No student pays.
So somebody has to.

Uweza is free to every student, permanently — not as a trial, a discount, or a scholarship a family has to apply for and hope. That holds because four groups of people who are not that student carry the cost, each for a reason that stands on its own.

Institutions and programmes

Schools, ministries, NGOs, scholarship funds and entrepreneurship programmes licence Uweza for their own cohorts. Your scholars get the platform and a Capability Passport that holds their coursework and their venture work in one record. Your fee also carries students outside your programme, and we would rather say that plainly than treat it as a quiet accounting fact.

Best fit if you already run a cohort and currently report on it with tools that cannot show what your scholars actually did.

Diaspora patrons

Sponsor students from your own hometown, by name and by school. Money already moves home constantly for exactly this reason; this gives it a record of what it produced rather than a receipt from a general fund.

Best fit if you have wanted to do this and have never found a version of it that showed you anything afterwards.

Businesses

Fund a cohort from a CSR budget, with the same talent logic as an institution at the scale a regional company can carry. Access to verified capability records is a genuinely different hiring signal from a stack of CVs.

Best fit if you hire young people and have found qualifications a poor predictor of who can actually do the work.

Families who choose to

A family with means can contribute — never as a condition of their own child’s access, and never as something a family has to actively decline. Ninety-three percent of our pilot families said they would pay. We took that as a reason to let those who can fund those who cannot, not as a reason to charge everyone.

Best fit if you can, and would rather your contribution reached further than your own household.

What we do not know yet, and are not going to pretend we do

The number we want to lead with is one sponsorship funds this many students. We are not printing it yet, because it depends on our real per-student monthly cost and we would rather arrive at that figure honestly than publish an illustration that becomes the quoted number in every conversation afterwards.

And cross-subsidy does not balance itself the way a subscription does. Two efforts run in parallel: signing up students, and signing up the people who make that free. Doing the first well and the second poorly would grow us into a funding shortfall rather than a mission. We build both with the same seriousness, and we would rather you heard that from us than found it later.

Where to start

The most useful first conversation is usually the shortest one: tell us who your scholars are and what you currently cannot show about them.
