Uweza Education

A record of what a person understands, built as they show it.

A grade is one morning under pressure. The Capability Passport is built check by check, from evidence the learner did not control, and opens from a link anyone can check. No learner ever pays for it.

The Passport linked above is the founder’s own, opened with his consent.

The Capability Passport holds five kinds of claim.

Each is shown separately, so a reader always knows which one they are looking at.

Demonstrated
Every check in the lesson where the topic was taught, answered in the learner’s own words, on the day.
Retained
Asked again weeks later, on a date the learner did not choose, with a question written fresh.
Carried across
A principle explained in one subject, applied in a field it was never taught in, without being told it was the same idea.
Attested
A certificate confirmed with the board that issued it, or a programme confirmed by the organisation that ran it. Never the learner’s own word.
In their own words
A question the learner asked that nobody anticipated, published only where a guardian, or an adult learner, has agreed.

Amara waits until the understanding is there.

Amara is Uweza’s AI teacher. A learner moves on when they can explain their reasoning back to her, not when a lesson ends.

After two attempts at a check, Amara appears and works through it with them. She keeps count of what a learner keeps missing, in the author’s words, and starts there when the same idea comes up in another subject. The count closes the moment they show it.

A teacher sees who needs them now, and which checks most learners find hard.

A learner explains why the plant in the dark corner leans toward the window.

Amara: Walk me through it again. What is the plant actually reaching for?

The learner revises: light, not warmth.

Amara: That is it, and you found it yourself. Now watch the stem.

An illustration of a check, not a transcript.

How learning works.

  1. 1

Sign up with a name and a phone number

No email, no bank card. A learner gets a handle of their own that opens their record from any phone.

  2. 2

    Start from a question

A course is a real question answered across every subject it takes, so each topic is there because the answer needs it.

  3. 3

Show it, then show it again

Checks after each scene ask for the reasoning in the learner’s own words. Weeks later, Uweza asks again.

  4. 4

    Build it

Understanding is shown at a workbench: a model whose behaviour the server re-runs before it counts.

  5. 5

    Take it somewhere

A course ends in a project a named community asked for. A funded project becomes a venture on Uweza Business.

Our own count: a pilot cohort of 118 scholars used Uweza before any public launch, and 100 of them are still active.

Who it is for.

Every learner, primary to university

Audio and large text for younger learners; questions and projects for secondary and university.

Girls who leave school early

The record stays theirs when schooling is interrupted, and picks up where it stopped.

Learners with disabilities

Every check can be answered by speaking. A spoken answer earns exactly the same Passport entry as a typed one.

Displaced learners

A handle and a password reach the record. No school, enrolment or institution has to still exist to confirm it.

No learner pays. Someone else always does.

Institutions licensing Uweza for their cohorts, diaspora patrons sponsoring learners from their hometowns, businesses funding a cohort, and families who choose to. A family is never asked to pay as a condition of access.

This only holds if the people paying grow as fast as the learners who cannot, so we build both sides with the same effort.

A funded project leaves Education and opens a venture on Uweza Business. The same record carries the coursework and the venture.
