Every figure is the sum of entries you can see.

You keep your own books. Uweza checks each entry against the message the operator already sent you, and prints what it found, so a reader can tell your evidenced revenue from the rest.

The founder’s loop

  1. 1

    Record

Income or expense, amount, currency, date. The database stamps when it was recorded, and you cannot change that stamp.

  2. 2

    Attach the evidence

Paste or forward the MTN MoMo, Orange Money, M-Pesa or bank message, or photograph a receipt.

  3. 3

    Uweza reads the message

It cuts the balance and fee lines first, then reads amount, currency, reference and date, in French or English. A field it is unsure of stays empty.

  4. 4

    Uweza says what it found

One of five results for each entry: the message agrees; the message reads one amount and the entry another; the reference is also attached to another entry, on any venture on Uweza; attached but not read; no evidence.

  5. 5

    Submit, and it is frozen

The report is rendered, fingerprinted and its entries locked. Edits before that are logged, and the report prints how many.

Uweza compared each entry with its evidence and reports what it found; it has not audited the ledger against a bank or operator statement.
The ledger trail under a report. Revenue is the sum of these lines, and each line says what Uweza found when it compared the entry with its evidence.

An entry recorded more than 14 days after the date it bears is marked late. An entry typed after a report’s deadline is never added to that report’s revenue; it is listed in later reports as carried from an earlier period.

Trust & Quality, from your own records

Trust reads how well your records are evidenced and kept: revenue backed by operator messages, entries recorded on time and not rewritten, reports on time, months of evidenced trading. Quality reads the business: reliable income, growth, margin, customer breadth, cash buffer, paid jobs.

Each reading prints its rule and the quickest ways up. You can issue a certificate of it, signed with the platform key, that anyone can check.

Tranche budgets

A tranche has budget lines: what it buys, the milestone it serves, quantity and unit cost. What you spent comes from matched ledger payments, never typed; an unmatched payment shows as not evidenced.

A line above your programme’s threshold needs its minimum number of quotes, each dated before the payment. Any difference from the approved amount needs a reason, shown to the officer. The report exports in the workbook’s own columns.

Check before you submit

Uweza reads your growth plan, one-pager, budget, research and deck, lists every figure with the words it came from, and checks them against each other and against your records: documents that disagree, parts that do not add up, a monthly average that is not the annual figure, an outside figure with no source, a projection with no assumptions, a date that does not exist, template text left in.

It never corrects a number. Each finding is fixed or explained, and a submission does not reach your programme until it is.

People and jobs

Record who works for the venture, full or part time, with start and end dates, and link each payment in the ledger to the person paid. Reports and your programme see people on record, how many were paid, and how many payments agree with an operator message.

Not built yet

  • Uweza does not read a founder’s SMS inbox. The founder records each entry and pastes or forwards the operator’s message; Uweza reads that message and checks the entry against it.
  • Photographed receipts are fingerprinted and attached, not read.
  • The interface is in English. Operator messages are read in French and English.
  • Contract signing needs a code by SMS, and there is not yet an SMS provider covering Cameroon. Contracts can be drafted, sent and tracked; signing a Cameroonian number waits on that provider.
  • Plans drafted from the record, field-research evidence, a programme’s own call for applications, and mapping to IRIS+ indicators are designed, not built.
